Page 1 of 9 Aviation is an exciting career prospect for many youth. Acquiring skills and knowledge in this field can prepare a young person to see aviation as a primary vocation. Aviation is not just flying but it is also the doorway to many other occupations ranging from airline, airport, air navigation and support services.
Students interested in a career in aviation should be planning throughout their high school years to enter an accredited training institute. Along with private agencies such as flight training schools, college and university programs have to be considered. One other "entry-point" is the Air Cadet Flying Scholarship available to qualified Air Cadets in Canada.
Learn more about your career options by taking part in events such as the annual Rotary Career Symposium and the Alliance of Manitoba Sector Council's Parent's Forum "Opening Doors". The Manitoba Aviation Council is also proud to present a flying Scholarship annually to a high school student. The 2007 recipient was Marion Cook from College Sturgeon Heights Collegiate (pictured below). The 2008 recipient was Kyle Cavers and the 2009 recipient was Adam McGrath, all Grade 12 graduating students from the College Sturgeon Heights Collegiate Commercial Aviation program.
